Glendale is located about nine miles northwest of Downtown Phoenix. – known recently as the home of the University of Phoenix Stadium, which hosts the NFL Arizona Cardinals and the annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Also, Jobing.com Arena, the home of NHL Coyotes, is located in Glendale. Both of these venues are part of the Glendale Sports and Entertainment District development plan.
The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball both moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2009 for spring training and shared a facility, known as Camelback Ranch-Glendale, which is in Phoenix but owned and operated by the City of Glendale.
Glendale is also home to the popular Arrowhead Towne Center Mall in the northwest part of Phoenix. There are numerous restaurants, retail stores, entertainment, and nightlife options. Glendale is home to Midwestern University- metropolitan Phoenix’s first medical school and a major post-graduate international business school, the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
The neighborhood of Glendale is known as “Arizona’s Antique Capital.” This has been well documented by Sunset magazine (2004) and a 1998 article in USA Today.
